Over one hundred years ago, boundaries were drawn to protect a spectacular wilderness area.  This area of ancient rock, sculpted by glaciers, encompasses more than 7,500 square kilometers of quiet forests, rolling hills, and an endless network of rivers and lakes.  Algonquin Park’s West gate is located 30 minutes east of Hwy 11 on Hwy 60.

Algonquin Park  is very accessible to hikers, bikers, nature enthusiasts, and vacationers.  Various types of hiking trails and canoe routes are easily accessible just off Hwy 60, safe parking lots and maps are available at each trail.

The Park’s Visitor’s Centre is a must see, located 30 minutes east of the west gate on Hwy 60.  The Visitors Centre is open daily during the summer.  For Spring, Summer and Fall season hours call the centre directly at 705-633-5572 or reservations 1-888-668-7275.

Canoe Trips

Canoe peacefully on our very own Mary Lake.  Enjoy the scenic beauty of the shores, homes and maybe some wildlife in one of the Lodge canoes, at no additional charge.  We just ask that nobody walks through the canoe or sits on the cross-bars.  Also - rocks and stones create havoc with the hull.  Check with the office for paddles and additional life jackets.

Wilderness Canoe trips with or without guides through Algonquin park are an excellent opportunity to learn about canoeing and experience the wilderness.  Your day would begin with an orientation and instruction session, then onto the lakes and rivers of  Algonquin Park.  There is plenty of time for questions, taking pictures and observing wildlife.  For further information call the Portage Store, inside the Park, at 705-633-5622 or fax 705-633-5696.
